Bureau Veritas COVID-19 Update
At Bureau Veritas, we are carefully following the guidelines of relevant authorities in every country in which we operate, as well as the recommendations of the World Health Organization. We are also actively monitoring the health crisis and its consequences with the utmost attention and have implemented crisis management committees at all levels of the Group.
For several weeks now, the COVID-19 pandemic has been affecting the lives of our employees around the world, their families, clients, partners, suppliers, and society at large. The entire Bureau Veritas network – across all our businesses, countries and subsidiaries – has been mobilized to implement the appropriate measures – at both local and global levels – to protect everyone’s health and safety and ensure business continuity.
In many sectors, our services contribute to maintaining operational activities that are critical to ensuring people’s health and safety. Bureau Veritas teams are working – both in the field and via remote technological channels – to ensure the safety of industrial facilities, hospitals, power grids and transportation infrastructure, and to conduct the testing required to uphold the quality of essential products and the operation of critical equipment.

HEALTH AND SAFETY: OUR TOP PRIORITY
The health and safety of our employees, their families and our clients is our number one priority, whatever the circumstances, and all the more so during the ongoing health crisis. Bureau Veritas has implemented a number of measures to ensure the continuity of our operations, while protecting the safety of our employees and clients in all affected areas. The main measures are as follows:
- Hygiene & Health:
- Repeated reminders to use barrier precautions and practice social distancing at all times
- Recommendations on what to do in case of symptoms
- Strict compliance with the policies in force in each country at the initiative of local authorities
- Quarantine measures for employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 or have demonstrated symptoms or live with someone who has tested positive
- Domestic travel is limited to providing essential client services, and to supervising the safety of our employees
- All business-related international travel has been suspended
- Implementation of teleworking
- Dissemination of information on best practices for working from home
- Reinforced remote management of teams, and active remote collaboration using the Group’s digital work tools
- Business premises:
- Enhanced hygiene and social distancing measures, of office and laboratory spaces for optimal safety
- Disinfection of business premises
- Displays advising preventative measures, including barrier precautions
- Access to our premises is severely restricted or prohibited to visitors
- Provision of personal protective equipment whenever necessary
In support of these measures, and to continue to meet our clients’ needs, Bureau Veritas has reinforced its IT infrastructure and developed business continuity plans for all of its operations. Furthermore, emergency procedures, have been reviewed; the head of each site is empowered to make emergency decisions.

Bureau Veritas has launched specialized digital tools for a variety of sectors to support remote operations. Teleworking, remote inspections and certification audits are enabling the continuity of our business activities, minimizing the risk of operational disruption for our clients.

UPDATE - March 30, 2020
Our Environmental Services Center in Regina, Saskatchewan has re-opened with regular hours of operation, effective, March 20, 2020.
All Bureau Veritas Laboratories and Service Centers are open. No contact procedures for submissions, drop-offs and pick-ups are in effect at all locations. For additional assistance please reach out to your regular Bureau Veritas contact at any time.

At this time, all of our network laboratories remain open.
In order to effectively deal with this rapidly evolving situation and to minimize business disruption, Bureau Veritas activated our Pandemic Planning Protocol and Business Continuity Plan at the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak.
We have established COVID-19 Crisis Management Teams both at the executive and local business levels who meet daily. Along with maintaining continuity of service, these teams are responsible for ensuring our staff is made aware of the latest information pertaining to worker safety.
The safety and wellness of our employees and customers remains our top priority. In order to do everything possible to minimize risk associated with COVID-19 transmission, we are working closely with our Health and Safety Teams, both locally and globally. Strict protocols surrounding social distancing, health screening, and sanitation have been implemented in all of our facilities. Our staff has been provided with additional PPE equipment, we are staggering shifts to minimize the number of individuals in our laboratories at any one time, and we have implemented non-contact submission procedures at all of our locations.

For your safety, Bureau Veritas Laboratories has implemented a no-contact pick up policy for any clients who visit our physical locations. Supplies can alternatively be ordered online and delivered straight to your door, when you use the Customer Portal. At your option, the supplies can also include fully customized labels either adhered to the bottles or in a separate stack.
As many of us have moved to working remotely, this is a great opportunity to use our collaboration capabilities by sharing reports and links to templates with your teammates. When sample collection is completed, you can submit an electronic COC to track and manage your order online, which also means less manual entry at the drop-off point. You can also access test results, criteria exceedances and status updates 24/7. All of your sampling program data can be combined into convenient customizable reports, so you can track your progress as you go. These services are available to all of our clients 24/7, and access is free.

In an effort to maintain social distancing and reduce the spread of this virus, effective immediately, all Bureau Veritas locations are adhering to a no-contact approach for sample drop-off and bottle order pick-up. In locations where sufficient space within the “office” area does not exist you will be instructed to leave your submissions in the “client drop off areas”. Please contact your local Bureau Veritas Representative or follow local instructions if posted.

STATEMENT - March 15, 2020
Preserving the confidence and trust of our customers and business partners by proactively ensuring the reliability and continuity of service is critical to our business. Bureau Veritas has emergency response plans for each of our locations.
The Emergency Management Team (EMT) is responsible for assessing all information surrounding the event, its overall impact on operations, and deciding whether or not to implement some or all of the emergency procedures.
Bureau Veritas has the ability to leverage the use of its sophisticated network of laboratories and service centers across North America as part of the business continuity strategy. This includes where necessary, relocation of tests, reallocation of resources including personnel and equipment, adjustments to hours of operations, and working with suppliers and business partners to maintain service continuation. In addition, ensuring we are in compliance to regulatory guidelines and procedures; cooperating with applicable agencies and ministries.
Redundancies have been built for core tests across the network should testing need to be conducted at another lab. This is to ensure that results will be delivered on time and to the same high level of quality that clients expect, regardless of location. In the event there is a need for testing at a third party laboratory, the customer will be notified of such activity. Bureau Veritas prioritizes the selection of a sub-contractor’s laboratory based on accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, experience, capacity and turn-around-time in order to meet client reporting requirements.
The dynamics of the customer needs and time sensitivity of many test methods require a high degree of triage at the front end of the business recovery process. Leadership and coordination are essential to the successful and efficient implementation of recovery activities and Bureau Veritas is committed to ensuring a continued high level of satisfaction throughout the journey.
Lastly, protecting our employees is paramount to our organization and we are asking for your support. In the event of a positive COVID-19 employee at a customer location we would ask that you kindly notify your Bureau Veritas representative. At that time, we will work with our customers to determine the best course of action and evaluate how samples are transported, received and analyzed at Bureau Veritas.
